Weekend Stocks 8/30/14

Everyone hates the bull market going on right now, but it is really strong. Russia, fracking, high transportation cost, congress gridlock it doesn’t matter the stock market does not care. The rich are getting richer and everyone else apparently is going to have to pay for it. I would love to see a pullback but I am not seeing the catalyst to bring that about. That being said I am in accumulation mode. My strategy right now is to weed out some of my losers and add to the winners. I am also starting to play a few dividend stocks. The idea of “set it and forget” sounds kind of good to me right now. In my longer retirement accounts I have a lot of SP500 index funds which are going off like crazy, which is nice to see the money come into those accounts.

Coming into next week here is where I am at:

$BRK.B (Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class B) Cost Per Share: $134.92 Current Price: $137.25

Warren Buffet has got 10 Billion in cash sitting in this stock. That is more money than have the planet’s country’s GDPs. The reason I bought it was because they own GEICO which means I get a 5% discount on my auto insurance. Include the 2% gain I made in one week, it is like Berkshire is paying me to have GEICO insurance.

$CAMPĀ  (Cal Amp) Cost Per Share: $18.54 Current Price:$19.28

Gained 4% this week which is awesome. Lots of deals in this stock should push it to the mid 20’s, good case study to be patient.

$CNSL (Consolidated Communications) Cost Per Share: $21.55 Current Price: $24.38

Still buying, keeping the cost per share the same while adding. Really liking the dividend income on this stock.

$GE (General Electric Co.) Cost Per Share: $27.84 Current Price: $25.98

I am kind of drifting to energy plays but I see a trend line pointing me to $30, plus it has a nice dividend payout.

$HYSR (Hypersolar Inc.) Cost Per Share: $.05 Current Price: $.027

$MNGA (Magnegas Gas Corp.) Sold Price: $1.15 Cost Per Share: $1.32 Current Price: $1.17

I thought the Russia situation would help this stock, but I was wrong. Their latest presentation did not impress me. Not a big fan of Power Point presentation. Looked kind of childish.

$NQ (NQ Mobile) Cost Per Share: $6.13 Current Price: $6.54

In kind of deep right now on this one as it represents 20% of my portfolio. It is going to either pay well or it is going to hurt A LOT. I figure I got 50% shot right now, really need that 20F to come out, hoping late September, early October.

$PAL (North America Palladium Ltd.) Cost Per Share: $.38 Current Price: $.27

You’d think the rising palladium prices would help this more, but it didn’t. Guess I will just have to bag hold it for a little longer, but it is a minor player in my portfolio so I can be patient.

$PLUG (Plug Power Inc.) Cost Per Share: $5.60 Current Price: $5.58

I keep winning with this stock. So volatile, but so predictable! I am down .02 cents right now, but I have no doubt I will get that back out when it hits $6.50 and then I probably will buy it again at $5.50, because people are inpatient and I am making money on that.
