For most people, July 17th, 2009, a 90 F day in a crowded Disneyland park, is their idea of torture. Though for a Disneyland geek such as myself, this is the “”day of days”” to go to Disneyland. It was on a like hot and humid day (soo much so that the women got their feet stuck on Main Street USA) that Disneyland opened its gates. July 17th, 1955 was Disneyland’s first day and ever since Disney geeks have been paying homage by attending Disneyland on that day. This year’s celebrations were a two day event for our family; there was a little dancing:
There was heat, but we were prepared:
We had a lot of good food (mostly turkey and avocado sandwiches Denise made and brought from home), but don’t worry we washed our hands:
We met lots of friends there :

BTW if you want to know how to dumbfound a cast member have this conversation at Pirates of the Carribean:
“”How many in your party?””
“”Uh, 43.””
“”No, really how many?””
“”43.””
Silence… then I get this look:

We rode on very few rides over the past two days, no need for “”Commando Style”” when you have a Premium Pass, but it was very fun nonetheless.
Poor Denise learned the hard way that there are two Extended Stay Americas in the “”Anaheim Resort Area”” and the one we were at was definately NOT in “”convienant walking distance to Disneyland.”” I call her on my way out of the park on Friday (AJ was getting tired and so they left early).
“”I am on Katella Avenue””
“”Your where?””
“”Katella, our hotel is on E. Katella Avenue.”” (For those curious the place we were at was 3.5 miles away from Disneyland’s main gate, and YES, Denise pushed AJ in his stroller the whole way (except for the last block that is where I finally found her)!!!!
Anyhow it was fun. My favorite part was of course the rededication ceremony. It had the Disneyland Band, the Dapper Dans, the Disneyland Mayor, Minnie, and of course Mickey. Here is a short clip to leave you with (I warn you it is a little loud):
